Crane Summit spotlights equipment safety

The fourth World Crane and Transport Summit, November 12-13 at the Biltmore Hotel in Miami, will feature nearly 20 presentations from top industry figures, led by  Jim Wiethorn, principal engineer at Haag Engineering and U.S. crane and rigging industry veteran. He will outline findings of his firm’s recently released “Crane Accidents: A Study of Causes and Trends to Create a Safer Work Environment, 1983-2013.”

San Antonio-based Simem America has named Greg Viland national sales manager, responsible for the NAFTA region. A graduate of Ohio University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, he started his career in 1990 with Master Builders Technologies and has been in the concrete industry since.

Besser marks 110 years as an industry fixture

ASTM Eyes Catch Basin Filters Standard

A proposed ASTM International standard will offer a means to reduce the impact of contaminated stormwater entering local drains. WK45326, Specification for Stormwater Catch Basin Filter, will aid community developments, sports facilities, fairgrounds, stadiums and factories in complying with U.S. Environmental Protection Agency clean water initiatives.
