EPA Revises Requirements for Underground Storage Tanks

6 UST 150The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is strengthening federal underground storage tank (UST) requirements to improve prevention and detection of petroleum releases, one of the leading sources of groundwater contamination. They improve the charter 1988 UST regulation, agency officials contend, by closing regulatory gaps, adding new technologies, and focusing on proper operation and maintenance of existing vessels.

Agencies issue proposed rule, guidance on contractor ‘Blacklisting’ EO

The federal agencies charged with implementing President Obama’s July 2014 Fair Pay and Safe Workplaces Executive Order have released their much-anticipated proposed rule on this directive. The Department of Labor (DOL) issued a 106-page proposed guidance document, and the Department of Defense (DoD), General Services Administration (GSA), and National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), issued a 131-page proposed rule, governing the terms of the so-called “Blacklisting” Executive Order (EO).

EPA, DOT outline elevated fuel efficiency standards for trucks

10 Truck 150Environmental Protection Agency- and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-proposed performance standards covering 2021–2027 model year heavy- and medium-duty trucks would achieve up to a 24 percent reduction of fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions when measured against a 2018 vehicle. The agencies address concrete mixers and dump trucks within a larger Vocational Vehicles category of heavy- and medium-duty models, representing what officials estimate is about 20 percent of fuel consumption in the transportation universe their proposal covers.
