Ameron sets October meeting for proposed NOV merger vote

Ameron International Corp. stockholders will convene in early October to vote on proposals related to a takeover by Houston-based National Oilwell Varco Inc. The companies’ boards jointly announced July 1 an agreement whereby NOV would acquire Pasadena, Calif.-based Ameron in a $772 cash transaction, with stockholders receiving $85/share —a 27 percent premium to mid-year trading.

Appellate court rejects Ultimax claims against CTS

The Court of Appeal of the State of California has affirmed a Los Angeles Superior Court of California ruling against Ultimax Cement and its principal, Hassan Kunbargi, in their alleged trade secret misappropriation case against CTS Cement Manufacturing Corp., Cypress, Calif., and Chairman Edward Rice.

Columbia Machine measures double-digit energy efficiency gain

During an 18-month power audit and management program involving Clark Public Utilities, Vancouver, Wash.-based Columbia Machine has reduced energy use per unit of output, or energy intensity, by 16 percent. The products machinery, handling system and batch plant manufacturer measures energy usage using a statistical model factoring production volumes and past energy usage against current consumption.
