DuBrook, Colonial bring U.S. Concrete Atlantic businesses six plants, 80 mixers

U.S. Concrete has closed its third and fourth deals of 2015, capping May by acquiring the assets of DuBrook Concrete Inc., Chantilly, Va., and Colonial Concrete Co., Newark, N.J. With three ready mixed plants and a 42-mixer fleet in northern Virginia, DuBrook is strategic to Superior Concrete Materials, U.S. Concrete’s long-held Washington, D.C. business. The Colonial transaction adds three sites and about 40 mixers to the New Jersey flagship, Eastern Concrete Materials.

Texas producer, contractor employment cases test disability claims

Alleging discrimination against employees protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the EEOC has filed suit against Wichita, Texas-based ready mixed producer OK Concrete and settled a case with Baker Concrete Construction, Houston.

Report tracks moderate growth in fiber cement product demand

Global fiber cement product shipments are projected to expand 4.4 percent per year through 2019, to 32.6 million metric tons, driven especially by growing demand in North America and deeper penetration in building applications, according to a new Freedonia study, World Fiber Cement.
