Cement producers maintain lead in Energy Star-certified manufacturing plants

Twenty-seven portland cement operations are among 70 manufacturing plants to achieve EPA Energy Star certification in 2015. Producers recognized for energy performance in the top 25 percent of the industry are Holcim (five plants); Buzzi Unicem, Cemex USA and Lehigh Cement (four plants); Argos USA, Essroc Cement and Titan America (two plants); plus, Ash Grove Cement, CalPortland Co., Martin Marietta Materials, Salt River Materials and Suwannee American (one plant).

Market, investment factors drive Caterpillar’s abrupt exit from on-highway trucks

Caterpillar will discontinue production of its on-highway vocational truck series, citing the current climate for heavy duty vehicles and a restructuring plan aligning company businesses with existing conditions. It will cease taking orders but maintain support for the Class 8 CT660, CT680 and CT681 models in the field.

U.S. Concrete extends New York footprint in Greco Brothers deal

U.S. Concrete has acquired the assets of Greco Brothers Concrete of L.I., Inc., and will integrate the ready mixed producer’s two plants and 37-mixer fleet into its New York City business, Ferrara Bros. LLC. Greco Brothers has a respected market presence gained through a nearly 60-year track record of deliveries to commercial and residential building, plus public works projects in the boroughs of Brooklyn, Queens, Manhattan and Staten Island.
