Saint-Gobain anticipates a first quarter 2014 closing on the sale of its Roaring River, N.C., Terre Haute, Ind., and White City, Ore., fiber cement siding facilities to Alpharetta, Ga.-based Plycem USA Inc., which distributes fiber cement trim sourced from a Costa Rica plant.

Fiber cement siding for residential and commercial buildings is part of Saint-Gobain Exterior Products, which will now focus on vinyl and polymer shake cladding. Plycem is owned by Mexico’s Elementia, a consortium of industrial and construction companies spanning fiber cement, portland cement, concrete, polyethylene, styrene, polypropylene and copper products. Present in more than 40 countries through 5,000-plus outlets, Elementia has Metals, Building Systems, Plastics and Cement divisions—the latter a partner with Lafarge Group in three Mexico mills.
