Eastern Concrete Materials, Inc. and Central Concrete Supply Co., Inc., business units of Texas-based U.S. Concrete, Inc. have attained Green-Star certification from the National Ready Mixed Concrete Association for a total of 17 plants. Seven Eastern Concrete plants are first in New Jersey, as well as the New York City area, to receive Green-Star certification. The producer aims to complete certification for its other operating plants in New York and New Jersey before year-end.

Surface Texture Standards An Industry First

In response to requests by architects and engineers to resolve consistency issues associated with quality levels achieved by polished concrete surfaces, the Concrete Sawing and Drilling Association has released two technical documents—an industry Standard and a Best Practice.

West-Sacramento-based Clark Pacific, one of the West Coast’s leading architectural and structural precast concrete producers, received the Associated General Contractors of America Construction Safety and Excellence Award. AGC grants the awards each year to recognize construction companies committed to safety, risk control, and occupational health management. Judges consider a broad range of criteria, including evidence of commitment to safe practices in management, active employee participation, work site hazard identification, safety program innovation, and more.

Per Faivre, Director of Construction Services.

Waukesha, Wis.-based Spancrete has named Per Faivre director of Construction Services, where he will focus on implementing the producer’s commitment to increasing value for customers and maximizing efficiency through all phases of the precast project. Faivre will oversee and direct project managers, superintendents, erection crews, subcontractors and related services. A civil engineer with a degree from the University of Illinois, Faivre previously worked as the precast division leader at Area Erectors, Inc., based in Rockford, Ill.
