The Masonry Veneer Manufacturers Association honored 11 projects with gold MVMA Design Awards in June during the association’s annual meeting in Anaheim, Calif. The competition, in its second year, recognizes innovative and trend-setting applications of manufactured stone veneer in members’ projects. Walking away with five gold awards, Veneerstone led this year’s contest.
The awards competition was judged in an open format, led by American Institute of Building Design Executive Director Steve Mickey, CPBD. The 57 entrants were critiqued in the areas of hardscape, remodel and new construction with categories broken up in residential, nonresidential, interior and exterior. Submissions for the contest were received from February through June of this year.
Out of the 27 winners (separated into gold, silver and bronze awards), Veneerstone’s five gold were followed by Quality Stone Veneer with three, Environmental StoneWorks with two, and Coronado Stone Works with one. “For the second year, our judges were overwhelmed by the amount of quality submissions,” said Mike Fischer, MVMA general manager. “This award program is really picking up speed and epitomizes how masonry veneer products can be used for innovative and eye-catching projects.”
