Oldcastle APG bridges mid-Atlantic businesses with Allied Concrete

Oldcastle APG has acquired Virginia’s Allied Concrete Products, an established player in hardscapes under the Eagle Bay brand, and concrete masonry and lightweight aggregates supplier in the Richmond/Tidewater region.

Chaney acquires PCS Concrete, teams with principals

Chaney Enterprises has closed on Maryland ready mixed producer PCS Concrete, welcoming founder Tom Pittman to its executive management team as maintenance operations officer, and naming Sharon Carr Pittman as technical service project manager. PCS has a payroll of 40 and operates in Annapolis Junction (headquarters), Westport (Southern Baltimore City), Owings, Waldorf, and Sparrows Point (Baltimore County).

20-year veteran Redfern heads Lafarge Eastern Canada

David Redfern has been appointed chief executive officer of Lafarge Eastern Canada operations, based near Toronto. With 25-plus years in construction materials, he succeeds Bruno Roux and transitions from product line general manager for Western Canada Aggregates and Greater Vancouver.

Senate vote one short of unanimous to confirm FHWA Administrator

Nicole Nason has become the Federal Highway Administration’s 26th Administrator following a 95-1 U.S. Senate vote. The former National Highway Traffic Safety Administrator and past Mothers Against Drunk Driving director arrives at the agency with deep experience in both the Executive and Legislative branches of the Federal government.

Auditor publishes revised Product Category Rule for Concrete

Michigan-based certification authority NSF International has issued a new Product Category Rule (PCR) for Concrete, reflecting nearly two years of stakeholder-proposed updates to a charter 2013 version. The PCR is a set of industry rules to support development of environmental product declarations (EPD) for ready mixed and manufactured concrete. EPDs respond to calls for product transparency and disclosure from green building standards, market initiatives, and state laws.
