Industry scorecard measures aggregates' economic, employment multipliers

NSSGA is spotlighting a recent Phoenix Center for Advanced Legal and Economic Public Policy Industry Scorecard series study concluding that each aggregates site position supports nearly five other jobs beyond the gate, while annual stone, sand & gravel sales are compounded almost fivefold when measured throughout the economy.

Caterpillar, J.P. Morgan veteran to succeed Martin Marietta CFO Lloyd

Martin Marietta has named James A.J. Nickolas senior vice president and chief financial officer, effective mid-August. He succeeds the retiring Anne Lloyd, who will remain with the producer through September, capping a 12-year term as CFO.

OSHA extends boom crane operator certification target to November 2018

OSHA has issued a one-year extension, to November 18, 2018, for precast concrete or construction fleets bound by Standard 1926.1427 Operator Qualification and Certification. It requires operators of 2,000-lb. or higher capacity cranes to be 1) Qualified, where they are observed working safety and knowledgably, and have documentation on file; and, 2) Certified by passing written and practical exams administered through Crane Institute Certification, National Center for Construction Education & Research, National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators or other accredited body.
