Cemex outlines double-digit CO2 emissions reduction plan through 2030

A new Climate Action strategy positions Cemex to clip net specific carbon dioxide emissions 35 percent across a global cement, concrete and aggregates enterprise against a 1990 baseline level. The producer defined an additional double-digit percent reduction target for the decade ahead on top of a 22-plus percent CO2 emissions cut realized since climate change concerns gained prominence and spotlighted carbon-intensive sectors.

Knife River Prestress adds Oldcastle Spokane plant

MDU construction materials subsidiary Knife River Corp. has extended its Pacific Northwest precast/prestressed concrete production footprint, acquiring the assets of Oldcastle Infrastructure Spokane. The operation serves contractors and developers in Washington, Idaho and Oregon, and complements an existing Knife River precast/prestressed plant in the latter state.

Lehigh White parlays pre-mixed UHPC under InWhite umbrella

Lehigh White Cement is promoting two formulations from the Aalborg InWhite Solution family of pre-mixed, ultra-high performance concrete materials developed by parent company, Cementir Group of Italy. Aalborg Excel and Aalborg Extreme are self-levelling, fast flowing mortars, conducive to pigment and fiber combinations and achieving very smooth surface finishes. Flowability, extended set time and durability characteristics, plus compressive strength in the range of 17,000 psi to 20,000 psi, make the materials well suited to architectural concrete with thin and complex geometries.

World of Concrete 2020: Strong attendance, 250-plus new exhibitors

The 45th World of Concrete wrapped up earlier this month with attendance of approximately 54,000 registered professionals and 1,310 companies exhibiting across 700,000-plus net square feet of indoor and outdoor Las Vegas Convention Center (LVCC) space. Exhibitors included 255 companies new to the show, while international presence was marked with 237 companies from 29 countries outside the United States.

CIM Auction reaches another seven-digit record in gross proceeds

The Concrete Industry Management program auction, staged amid World of Concrete 2020 day two activities at the Las Vegas Convention Center, grossed more than $1.2 million from bidding on a Mack Granite-mounted McNeilus Bridgemaster mixer, Somero S-485 laser screed, Shumaker Load and Go truck wash system, Mahindra Automotive 2020 Roxor off road vehicle, and a host of smaller ticket product, material, equipment, and entertainment, sports or travel package offerings.
