FMI Index: Nonresidential construction unhampered by labor pinch, rising costs

The nonresidential construction sector continues to grow at a solid pace, reflecting 18 months of improving activity despite rising construction materials and labor costs, along with a slight decline in regional economies where most activity is taking place, according to management consultant FMI’s Nonresidential Construction Index Report (NRCI) for Q2 2015.

At first glance, EPA Waters rule keeps concrete plants’ CWA exemptions

In their early reading of the final “Waters of the U.S.” rule, or Clean Water Rule the EPA and U.S. Army jointly announced late last month, NRMCA Government Affairs staff cite exclusion of certain ready mixed concrete plant aspects, but are reviewing the document for more specifics on industry impact and producer compliance measures.

Developer patents flooring adhesive equal to high slab moisture, pH levels

As concrete practitioners continue to confront floor-covering work schedules dictated by slabs on grade drying requirements, Formulators has announced patent protection for its waterproof adhesive technology. The patent covers a mixture marketed with the Aquaflex moisture mitigation system for flooring installations on moisture- and pH-bearing concrete.
