American Concrete Institute announces the release of two of its best-selling publications. The first Û 530-08: Building Code Requirements and Specification for Masonry Structures and Related Commentaries [ISBN: 1-929081-29-4] Û is a 236-page reference published by the Masonry Standards Joint Committee, comprising The Masonry Society, American Concrete Institute, and the Structural Engineering Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
Highlights and updates to the 2008 edition of the masonry guide include quality, inspection, testing, and placement of materials; placing, bonding, and anchoring of masonry; and, the placement of grout and reinforcement. Covering design and construction of masonry structures, the publication is an essential resource for masonry professionals, ACI officials note, written in a format that may be adopted by reference in a legal building code. Separately, the 2008 edition of the Manual of Concrete Practice [ISSN: 0065-7875] now is available in traditional hard copy (a set of six books and a separate index), CD-ROM, or an online version. Containing more than 190 documents, MCP is the most comprehensive and largest single source of concrete practice information available in one set of books, the association notes, containing all data needed to answer questions about code requirements, specifications, tolerances, concrete proportions, construction methods, and evaluation of test results, among other topics. The publication also includes the 2008 version of ACI's 318-08, Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete and Commentary (ACI 318-08).
