Rayfield Harris, based at GCC Mid-Continent Concrete’s downtown Tulsa, Okla., plant, is the Ready Mixed Concrete Driver of the Year for 2013, selected from a pool of applicants representing NRMCA producers across the country. Competition judges recognized him for career achievements, safety record, professionalism, driving competency and customer service skills. Harris has worked for GCC Mid-Continent for more than nine years and is assigned to one of the company’s pink mixer trucks, publicizing the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure Foundation.

“Anyone who comes in contact with Ray walks away feeling a little better about themselves,” noted GCC’s Kim Kelly in the Driver of the Year Award nomination.

“In 30-plus years in this industry, I have never seen a more dedicated employee,” added GCC Mid-Continent Metro/Midco District Manager Kevin Jackson.

Harris will be honored at the NRMCA annual convention in San Antonio, along with 2013 Driver of the Year runner-up Barry Goodrich, a 15-year delivery professional based at the Cemex plant in Fairfield, Calif. “Barry has gone more than 13 years without a rejected load and without an accident while averaging nearly 10,000 yards delivered over the past three years,” notes Cemex Health & Safety Manager Aaron Autsen.

Continuing its Driver of the Year Award support, the NRMCA-affiliated Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau will present Harris and Goodrich $5,000 and $500 checks, respectively, during the convention.
