A dry mix containing high volumes of fly ash and recycled fibers, CleanCrete High Strength-Low Energy Concrete is premiering on the East Coast at the Legge Industries building material yard in Newark, N.J. The distribution is part of an agreement between mix developer Clean Concrete Technologies and Legge affiliate Cugino Associates, which is bagging CleanCrete and other mixes in Bayville, N.J.

CleanCrete is packaged in 50-lb. bags, has a 28-day design strength of 6,000 psi, and contains conventional aggregate. Its binding agents are similar to Ultra Green, a packaged mixÛwith demolition concrete-derived aggregateÛCCT launched on the West Coast in 2009 through San Francisco-based Buddy Rhodes Concrete Products. CCT promotes both branded mixesÌ offsetting effect of carbon dioxide emissions, owing to reduced portland cement content. The goal is to implement a new way of looking at concrete products, notes CCT founder Jim Glessner. We have the ability to truly make an impact on CO2 reduction.

CleanCrete High Strength-Low Energy Concrete, adds Richard McCabe, head of research & development, can exceed the performance of traditional concrete in compressive, tensile and flexural strength. Its longevity is expected to be many times greater than traditional concrete due to its use of nanofibers, pozzolans and small particles that provide high surface density."
