Energy market drives new Knife River division

The Knife River Western North Dakota Division is ramping up ready mixed, aggregate and asphalt production, plus companion construction services, for private and public work around new Williston headquarters.

“As the energy industry continues to expand its reach in northwestern North Dakota, the construction demand and need for ready-mix and aggregate products is also increasing,” says Knife River Corp. CEO Bill Schneider. “One of the biggest critical needs in that area is to rebuild the highway infrastructure. [We] excel in highway reconstruction and rehabilitation and will be ready to make safer, stronger roads that can handle the increased truck traffic.”

Brad Arnston has been appointed Western North Dakota Division president, transitioning from a role as Central Minnesota Division operations manager. An office and production equipment are earmarked for a north Williston site from which the company plans to have ready mixed delivery capability by early May. An asphalt plant from a sister Boise, Idaho, operation will be transferred to Williston after North Dakota’s spring road restrictions are lifted. The site extends Knife River’s home-state foothold, underscored by strong presence in the Bismarck, Beulah, Fargo and Washburn markets.
