Johnney Hilliard of Denton, Texas, is the 2010 NRMCA Driver of the Year. The award recognizes a long track record of safe operating procedures, professionalism, and strong customer service skills, most recently with current employer Redi-Mix Concrete, U.S. Concrete's Dallas-Ft. Worth business. A mixer driver for more than 40 years, Hilliard exhibits a knowledge and understanding of concrete that is unmatched among delivery professionals, according to Redi-Mix Operations Manager Alex Moody.
Hilliard will be recognized at NRMCA's Annual Convention in Austin, Texas, along with two Driver of the Year finalists: Lafarge North America's Charlie Davis, a 32-year industry veteran from Eufaula, Ala.; and, CalPortland's Armando Orantez, a 34-year industry veteran from Tucson, Ariz. The Truck Mixer Manufacturers Bureau will present the Driver of the Year and finalists cash prizes of $5,000 and $500, respectively, at a March 16 convention awards breakfast. The drivers will also be featured in the April issue of Concrete Products, which cosponsors the program with NRMCA.
