Big River lands two ICPI/NCMA Safety Awards

Big River Industries, Inc., the largest manufacturer of expanded clay lightweight aggregate (LWA), announced the acceptance of two Safety Awards from the Interlocking Concrete Pavement Institute and National Concrete Masonry Association (ICPI/ NCMA). The company’s Erwinsville, La., plant and Livingston, Ala., plant each received an award for the number of hours worked accident free. The Erwinsville facility was acknowledged for 102,462 safe hours, and the Livingston operation was awarded for 92,357 hours.

Paris-based Lafarge Group has appointed as senior leaders for Canada and U.S.-bordering businesses Bob Cartmel, six Eastern Provinces, and René Thibault, four Western Provinces, three Territories, plus the Dakotas and the Pacific Northwest. Based in Toronto and Calgary, respectively, they are responsible for all operational, marketing and functional elements of aggregate, asphalt, cement, concrete (ready-mix, pipe and precast), and construction and paving operations.

Taylor Concrete becomes SHARP certified by OSHA

Taylor Concrete Products, Inc., Watertown, N.Y., has been accepted in the Occupational Health and Safety Administration’s (OSHA) SHARP Program, joining an elite group of only 75 New York state businesses to hold the honor and only one of two companies from Jefferson County to do so.
