Alan Antoniewicz has been promoted to president of Waukesha, Wis.-based Spancrete Group Inc., following an 18-month tour of duty as vice president and chief operating officer, a title he retains. Spancrete officials credit him with providing the company clear direction and refocusing it around the core strengths of precast production and construction, plus hollowcore machinery solutions. They also note how has Antoniewicz has instituted strategic business methods, solid quality improvements and increased efficiencies at all manufacturing facilities, while taking steps to improve sales and engineering for the organization.

Texas Industries has promoted Les Vines to treasurer; he will direct the company’s Investor Relations activities and retain his vice president and corporate controller titles. After nine years with Ernst & Young LLP, Vines joined Dallas-based TXI as accountant in 1995, becoming corporate controller in 2004 and more recently assistant treasurer.

Knife River Corp. employees continued their strong safety commitment, marking another year of reduced injury and illness rates. In the past 11 years, Bismark, N.D.-based Knife River has reduced its injury and illness rates by 83 percent. In 2010, Knife River’s overall recordable-incident rate was 2.19, down 19 percent from 2009 and 50 percent lower than the national industry average. The lost-time-accident rate for 2010 was 0.41, which is 14 percent lower than 2009 and 75 percent below industry average.

With more than 15 years of precast construction experience, Augustine Chung has joined Spancrete Illinois as Chicago area sales manager. A LEED AP who has worked on more than 1,000 precast building projects, including two LEED Silver-rated structures, Chung holds a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Illinois-Champaign/Urbana.

LEED Accredited Professional Meredith Ware has joined Charlotte, N.C.-based Bonsal American, Inc. as director of sustainability. She will report to company president David Maske, who is leading the packaged concrete and building materials giant’s enterprise-wide push for sustainable practices, from internal operations through product solutions for the built environment. “Meredith is charged with helping us design and manufacture sustainability principles into our full complement of Sakrete, ProSpec, AmeriMix, and GemSeal branded products,” notes Maske. “Many of these are already helping architects, contractors and other building professionals gain LEED credits from the U.S. Green Building Council.”
