Networked GC settles safety newsletter piracy case

Acting on behalf of Cal-OSHA Reporter publisher Providence Publications LLC, the Software and Information Industry Association has settled copyright infringement claims against Harbison-Mahony-Higgins Builders, Inc. (HMH Builders), a subsidiary of major general contractor Swinerton & Walberg Co.

Cemen Tech gains Asia presence

During CSD Seminar 2011 in late August, Tristar introduced the Cemen Tech Volumetric Concrete Dispensers for the first time in Thailand. The two-day event was organized by Siam City Cement Company, Ltd. to present new and innovative technology to Thailand’s concrete and batching plant industries. More than 100 of Thailand's leading cement and concrete producers attended.

OSHA, CSDA release Best Practices

Through its alliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), the Concrete Sawing & Drilling Association (CSDA) released a new Best Practice entitled Hearing Conservation (CSDA-OBP-1008). In addition, CSDA has also released two additional Best Practices, Establishing and Maintaining the Work Area (CSDA-BP-011) and Mechanical Anchors (CSDA-BP-012). With the release of these three documents, the Association’s series of Standards, Specifications, Tolerances and Best Practices totals 30.

Roy Kirkpatrick has been named president of Knife River Corp.’s Texas operations. Since 2007, Kirkpatrick has worked as vice president of materials for the company, performing sales and operational responsibility for all aggregate, asphalt, ready mix and rail distribution facilities. He brings more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry in a variety of capacities.
