Buffalo Grove, Ill.-based steel fiber manufacturer Concrete Fiber Solutions has appointed Matthew Norman as Midwest sales manager, citing industry experience that includes nearly a decade in designing, specifying and overseeing the use of steel fiber-reinforced concrete. He joins CFS at a point of rapid growth, management notes, with the company’s steel fiber-reinforced floor slab installations exceeding 3 million square feet through Q3 2016. Norman graduated from Purdue University, West Lafayette, Ind., with a Bachelor of Sciences degree in civil engineering. His major field of study was reinforced concrete design with a double minor in geotechnical engineering and economics.

Alpine Investors V SBIC, LP has acquired Salt Lake City-based Arcom, a leader in architectural/engineering/construction software solutions that integrate building specification content. Arcom maintains and distributes the American Institute of Architects’ MasterSpec, which is used by nearly 90 percent of the top U.S. architectural and engineering firms.

“The U.S. non-residential construction market, which is just now starting to reap the tremendous benefits brought by technology, is forecast to grow for the next decade,” says Alpine Partner Mark Strauch. “Our research quickly identified Arcom as a leader in delivering productivity-enhancing software solutions to provide the rich specification content needed by architects, engineers, designers and specifi[ers].”

“This talented team has built a strong foundation for growth and together, with Alpine’s support, we will scale Arcom to provide the next level of innovative solutions to the architectural, engineering and construction market,” notes Alpine’s Jim Contardi who, effective January 2017, will succeed Arcom President and CEO Christopher Bushnell.
