Haarup NA taps Sherman-Dixie Concrete veteran; expands parts and service

John Higgins

After 16 years with Tennessee-based Sherman-Dixie Concrete Industries—recently acquired by Forterra Building Products—John Higgins has joined Haarup North America as sales manager. The Portland, Ore., concrete plant equipment specialist credits his experience in precast machinery and plant design or retrofit, plus service from a National Precast Concrete Association board term.

Denmark-based Haarup A/S established its North American operation in 2012, eyeing better proximity to customers. Officials note that their original parts and equipment inventory square footage is no longer adequate, driving an expansion earlier this year into warehouse space adjacent to its facility. Haarup NA now has more than 10,000 sq. ft. of office and storage space, and cites the addition of new engineering and service personnel concurrent with Higgins’ appointment. To meet demand among U.S. and Canadian customers, a veteran technician from headquarters has been dispatched to Portland for the next couple of years, charged with ramping up the service team.
